"Science is out and SCP is in. Someone told us not to mix machines and monsters but we've gone and done it anyway."

"This one is completely free form. Type text, push buttons, run in circles, collect empty air put it in your pocket and then transform it into a mewing kitten. No limits! Get your tickets!"

This is the first released game that explored how large language models (LLMs) could be used in games. There is certainly something interesting here: we are able to make a game that runs more free-form, closer to the types of games you might play in, say, a table-top RPG format. At the time, this idea was interesting and novel. Nowadays there are a glut of failed attempts at this concept.

In SCGPT (a combination of SCP and GPT-3), you are a D-class personnel, stranded in a facility with unknown entities lurking in rooms. To escape, you have to confront these creatures, each of which is generated on the spot using LLMs and image generator APIs. It's a great first-attempt at exploring this space, and it is fun, but I would do a few things differently if I made this same game again.

To play this game there was a cost because the API tokens to run it have to be provided by the player (through OpenAI).
